By Space Coast Daily // November 7, 2022
Trying to find a projector for your business needs? Well, you need to be extra careful as the projector just doesn’t only have to be exceptionally bright. It rather has to ensure smooth meetings, presentations pop up on screen without any delays, and must have dull stats super vibrant and engaging.
So far you only know what qualities your projectors should have, how would you know whether the projector has all the qualities or not is still a headache.
It would not be straightforwardly written in the product description that the projector would ensure smooth meetings, make presentations popup without any delay, and sometimes even not that stats are vibrant and engaging. You have to judge the projector in other ways and determine whether it would be suitable for the job or not. How would you find out?
How to choose a projector for your business?
To choose a highly powerful projector for your business you have to look for a few things;
■ Resolution
■ Brightness
■ Throw Distance
■ Projection technology
■ Light source
■ Lamp life
■ Price
It’s important to mention here that even before trying to judge the projector, you need to know where it is going to be installed. It’s because you have to take into account the room size, lighting condition, presenter needs, and the number of attendees. It will you in making the right choice.
Resolution
The first thing that needs your utmost attention is the resolution. Resolution is “actually” the number of pixels the projectors use to form an image. The pixels theory is pretty simple, the more pixels the projector uses to create an image, the better the image quality would be.
The Resolution of the projector is quoted in two numbers, you would have several choices like 800×600(SVGA), 1280×800, 1024×786(XGA), 1920×1200(WUXGA), 1920×1080(HD 1080p), and 3840×2160(UHD) 4096×2160(4K) is the highest resolution, however, for business needs the projector does not need to have such a resolution. You can go for a little low pixel count as well like 1920×1200 or 1920×1080. If the needs are small, you can go even lower than this pixel count.
Brightness
Examining the brightness is just as important as the resolution. If the projector is not bright enough how would it light up the screen to perfection? You can judge the brightness of the projector by lumens and the reflectivity of the screen.
As per the experts, for smaller settings such as business meeting rooms and classrooms with minimum ambient light, a 3000 to 5000 lumens room projector works best. If your needs are bigger and uncertain, you can go for 5000 to 8000 lumens as well. However, make sure the projector has at least 3000 to 5000 lumens.
Throw Distance
In the simplest words, the throw distance is the suitable distance between the projector and the screen. It guides you on how far your projector should be kept to project a high-quality image. Therefore, while purchasing the projector you have to figure out where you would be installing the screen and how far the projector will be placed. It will make it easy for you to understand whether the projector you are considering has the ideal throw distance or not.
Calculating the throw distance ratio is not that hard. It can be obtained by dividing the distance by screen width. Most people prefer to keep a 24 to 36 feet distance between the projector and screen. If you are planning to do the same, divide 24 or 36 by the width of your screen to know your ideal throw distance ratio and find a suitable projector accordingly.
Projection technology
Projection technology can not be neglected at any cost especially when you are purchasing a projector for your business needs. These days, the projectors either use LCD or DLP technology. Both LCD and DLP projectors are equally good, however, they serve differently.
The LCD projectors deliver sharper and better pictures. whereas, the DLP projectors are portable, lightweight, and more reliable than the other case. Now you have to decide whether you want your projector to deliver a better picture or have to be portable.
Light source
The projectors either use lamps or lasers to light up the screen. The laser projectors are more advanced than the projectors with traditional lamps. As obvious, laser projectors have a longer lifespan as well. Therefore, I would suggest you have a laser projector. Otherwise, you will keep replacing your projector’s lamp every other month.
Lamp life
Whether it’s a business or home theater projector, you can afford to ignore the lamp life. Fortunately, even the cheapest projectors these days have impressive lamp life. Since the business projectors are not that cheap, they usually have impressive lamp life.
However, that should not prevent you from double-checking the lamp’s life. Make sure the projector must at least serve you a good 30,000 to 50,000 hours without demanding a replacement.
Size and weight
The size and weight of the projector often get ignored as we are usually busy double-checking the lumens, throw distance ratio, projector technology, resolution, and the light source. Even if the projector has to be installed on a ceiling, it has to be compact and lightweight. Compact lightweight projectors are worthy of consideration for a variety of reasons. The portability makes the projector easy to install, store, and transport.
Appearance
If the appearance of the projector matters to you, you should judge the projector by its appearance as well. The projector must have a unique appearance. However, if the specs are good, forget about the appearance.
Price
Lastly, ever since projectors became common, the prices have dropped to a great extent. However, if you go for a well-known brand, obviously the projector would be reliable and a bit costly. Try finding a projector that should be under $2000.
In brief, You should always choose the business projector very carefully. Try judging the projector by resolution, throw distance ratio, lumens, projection technology, light source, lamp life, appearance, size, weight, and price.
