U.S. COAST GUARD: Body Recovered Off Port Canaveral of Woman Missing from MSC Meraviglia

Coast Guard officials said the cause of the incident is under investigation

BREVARD COUNTY • PORT CANAVERAL, FLORIDA – A 36-year-old woman’s body was recovered from the water approximately 18 miles offshore Port Canaveral Thursday morning after she went overboard the Port Canaveral homeported MSC Meraviglia, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Coast Guard officials said the cause of the incident is under investigation.
The MSC Meraviglia, one of the largest cruise ships in the world, is 171,598 tons, is 1,036 feet long, and can accommodate 5,655 passengers.
The Meraviglia offers three and four-night itineraries out of Port Canaveral to Nassau and Ocean Cay Marine Reserve and seven-night western Caribbean itineraries and Ocean Cay Marine Reserve.
The ship was en route back to Port Canaveral and was approaching the port this morning when the incident occurred.
