Brevard County Volunteers Will Prepare Your Federal Taxes for Free Starting in Early February

Volunteers can prepare all individual and joint federal tax returns

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Volunteers working through AARP-VITA in Brevard County will prepare your Federal taxes for free starting in early February.

All volunteers are trained using IRS and AARP-VITA standards and must pass an IRS and AARP test. In addition, all returns are reviewed for accuracy by a second certified volunteer.

Volunteers can prepare all individual and joint federal tax returns, with a few exceptions for certain complicated returns. There are no age or income limitations for this free service.

■ Cocoa Beach Library
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday: 9:30 – 1:30

■ Central Brevard Library Cocoa
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 9:00 – 1:00
Appointments are made in person starting 17 Jan on Tues, Thurs and Sat from 9 – 1 and then during the season until all appointments are full.

Appointments are made in person Jan 9, 11, 23, 25 and 30 from 9 – 1.

Each taxpayer must bring their Social Security card or statement, as well as the Social Security cards of all dependents on the return, photo identification for all individuals, and all tax documents.

Those documents will include W-2s, 1099-Rs, SSA-1099s, 1099-Bs, broker statements, 1099-INTs and 1099-DIVs.

Each taxpayer must also bring their filed 2022 tax return. If you purchased health insurance through the Marketplace, you must also bring your form 1095-A, which you will receive from the federal government.

All returns are e-filed, meaning refunds are generally issued with 10 days.
