BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Space Coast Sports Hall of Famer Jawaan Taylor, former Cocoa Tigers Football and Florida Gators player, sat down with Space Coast Daily’s Juan Rodriguez to discuss the best season of his career and the Jacksonville Jaguars’ special season.
Jaguars finished the season 9-8 during the regular season and made it to the second round of the playoffs where they fell to the Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs.
Jawaan continues to be the epitome of an NFL ironman, and Taylor has yet to miss a game during his professional career.
Taylor grew up and played high school football for John Wilkinson’s Cocoa Tigers. A 6-foot-5-inch, 328-pound offensive tackle, he was a standout and immediately captured the attention of major Division I football programs across the nation.
Taylor ended up staying close to home and attending the University of Florida until he decided to forego his senior year and enter the 2019 NFL Draft. He was selected 35th overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
After signing a $7.8 million contract with the Jags, the 22-year-old played all 1,091 offensive snaps during his rookie season.
For his outstanding play during the 2019 National Football League season, Taylor was selected to the Pro Football Writers Association All-Rookie Team.
