BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Thanks to our great partners to the north, the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, and the US Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force, Escaped Prisoner Nathan Barker is now back behind bars where he belongs.

As you may recall, last week Barker thought it was a brilliant idea to escape from the Florida Department of Corrections Work Release Camp in Sharpes.

You know, the place where he was allowed to come and go from the facility for work related purposes while serving out the remainder of his sentence.

Yep that’s right, Barker literally escaped from a place where he was allowed to come and go from, for work purposes, so that he could catch another felony charge and go back to prison where he will be locked behind bars.

I’m sure in his mind that seemed like a good idea at the time, however, last night reality hit when he was taken back into custody by members of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office and the US Marshall’s Task Force including BCSO Agent Rick Clements who is assigned to the Task Force.

Barker was located in New Symrna Beach where his location was surrounded by law enforcement and he was taken into custody on the active warrant for Escape.

Great job by our partners at Volusia Sheriff’s Office and the Marshal’s Task Force on getting Barker locked down and back in jail where he belongs.
