Platinum Coast Orchid Society 58th Annual Orchid Show and Sale Enters Final Day at Kiwanis Island Park

'Orchid Fantasy' will feature beautiful exhibits from local and international growers

ABOVE VIDEO: The 2023 Orchid Show and Sale is being held at Kiwanis Island Park Gymnasium on Merritt Island over the weekend. The show, “Orchid Fantasy,” features beautiful exhibits from local and international commercial growers, local orchid societies, and society members.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Platinum Coast Orchid Society will open its annual Orchid Show and Sale from tomorrow (May 5-7) at Kiwanis Island Park Gymnasium on Merritt Island.

This year’s show, “Orchid Fantasy,” will feature beautiful exhibits from local and international commercial growers, local orchid societies, and society members.

This is an American Orchid Society judged show and PCOS encourages orchid hobbyists in the community to enter their orchids for judging.

There will be scheduled lectures on Saturday and daily door prizes donated by community sponsors.

Platinum Coast Orchid Society members and participating vendors will be available for advice on growing and caring for orchids. Orchid culture sheets and handouts will also be available.

This annual event is held in the air-conditioned Kiwanis Island Park Gymnasium and Annex, located at 951 Kiwanis Island Park Road, off State Road 520, ½ mile east of Merritt Square Mall. Show hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.

Parking is free, and admission is just $5.

The show will feature informative lectures and spectacular orchid exhibits created by commercial growers and amateur exhibitors. Commercial growers in attendance will have thousands of orchid plants for sale to the general public. Some of the growers are from the immediate area, while others are from throughout Florida and the world.

There will be drawings for door prizes throughout the duration of the Show.

Membership in the society is $15 a year, and applications will be available at the courtesy booth at the show for those interested. Monthly meetings with programs, plant sales, picnics, parties, and informative presentations are some of the benefits of belonging to the society.

A portion of the proceeds from the show will benefit The Candlelighters of Brevard, Inc., which is dedicated to providing emotional and financial support to children with cancer and their families.
