Brevard County Deputies Arrest Man in Cocoa After Road Rage Incident
By Space Coast Daily // July 11, 2023
suspect identified as Raymond Hofmann
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Deputies and Agents are currently working an active scene near the intersection of School Street and Bay Ave. in Cocoa, reference a “road rage” incident that took place just a short time ago.
The perpetrator is in custody after citizens reported a grey Chevy Tahoe was initially parked in the middle of the roadway and then began ramming vehicles as they attempted to go around him.
As things progressed, the suspect exited his vehicle and actually began striking vehicles as they passed by with a tire Iron, even breaking the driver’s side window of a passing truck and the tire iron stuck in the broken glass.
As Deputies were responding to the call, BCSO Comm Center provided additional details that the subject was also armed with a nail gun and was threatening victims at the scene.
As Deputies arrived on-scene they observed the suspect, Raymond Hofmann who was now armed with a crowbar.
Hofmann was given commands to drop the crowbar as he started toward them stating “you will have to kill me!”
Hofmann then threw the crowbar and took off fleeing on foot as he apparently did not get the memo, that if you run from Brevard County Deputies you are only going to go to jail tired.
Deputies Jared Binder, Tyler Conway, and Dean Bonney, chased after Hofmann who during the chase threw a chair and a BBQ Grill at the Deputies, who still ran him down and cuffed and stuffed him.
Hofmann is in custody and faces various charges for Resisting, Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, and other charges relating to his violent attacks on citizens during the incident.
While the suspect is in custody, this is still an active scene with Deputies, Agents, and Crime Scene collecting evidence, so please be cautious in the area when traveling.
Another great job by our Deputies and Communications Center for getting this violent and dangerous individual off our streets.
