Drive-Thru Pasta for a Purpose Fund Raiser to Benefit Cancer Patient Olivia Owens Set Aug. 4 in Palm Bay

Olivia has fearlessly battled DIPG while participating in a groundbreaking clinical trial at UF Shands

As Olivia’s family, we are deeply moved by the unbreakable bond within our close-knit town, where friends and neighbors in the community rally around those in need.

The overwhelming support we have received for Olivia knows no bounds, and we are touched by the upcoming event “Pasta for a Purpose,” which beautifully showcases the depth of love and unity present in our midst.

The generosity of the community has been truly heartwarming. We are particularly grateful for the efforts of Odyssey Charter School Family, where students, teachers, and parents have come together to drive the success of this event, exemplifying the power of collective action.

Olivia’s journey with Diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), a brain tumor that is highly aggressive and difficult to treat, has been a courageous one, and we are deeply grateful for the love and resilience she has shown.

For the past 18 months, Olivia fearlessly battled the disease while participating in a groundbreaking clinical trial at UF Shands, and we are thankful for the hope and progress it has provided.

Thanks to the support from Great Recreation World, Olivia was able to create cherished family memories during the summer, with a memorable family vacation.

However, the battle against DIPG is far from over, as new challenges emerge with the presence of cysts in her pons and enhancements in other parts of her brain. Yet, we draw strength from the incredible doctors leading her treatment, who continue to persevere, leaving no stone unturned in their quest to develop a therapy that can extend Olivia’s fight against this relentless disease.

In times like these, the role of the community becomes even more crucial. It is a time for all of us to rally together, to express gratitude, and to support the many businesses in the area that have touched Olivia’s life and contributed to her journey. Your compassion and dedication have made a significant impact on our lives, and your continued support is a testament to the strength of unity within our community.

As “Pasta for a Purpose” draws near, we, Olivia’s family, stand in solidarity with all of you, eager to show our love and appreciation. This event goes beyond fundraising; it is an outpouring of love and a reminder of the power of coming together for a greater cause.

On this special evening, we will celebrate Olivia’s strength and determination, honor the tireless efforts of the doctors, and cherish the spirit of support that has brought us this far. Our collective hope is that together, we can create a brighter future not only for Olivia but also for others battling DIPG, one that is filled with love, compassion, and progress toward a cure.
