Suspect Arrested in Last Friday’s Chase Bank Robbery on South Washington Avenue in Titusville

BREVARD COUNTY • TITUSVILLE, FLORIDA – A Hernando County man has been arrested in connection to last Friday’s Chase Bank robbery.
According to the Titusville police, Nicholas Brooks Race, 40, of Weeki Wachee, was charged with Robbery, a 2nd-degree felony.
At approximately 11:40 a.m., on Wednesday, July 26, the suspect was located at a Weeki Wachee, Florida hotel, and taken into custody by the United States Marshals Service Regional Tampa/Florida-Caribbean Fugitive Task Force and the Hernando County Sherriff’s Office in compliance with a Titusville Police Department arrest warrant.
Additional multi-jurisdictional law enforcement support was provided by the Orlando Police Department and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office “Game Over” Task Force.
Race was booked into the Hernando County Jail and is being held on a $15,000 bond.
Titusville police has been searching for the suspect captured on surveillance committing a strong-armed robbery that occurred on Friday at a Chase Bank.
Police say the investigation began at approximately 1 p.m. Friday, when police responded to a 911 call reporting the robbery from Chase Bank, located at 2700 South Washington Avenue.
“The preliminary investigation revealed the suspect, described by witnesses as an adult white male in his 30s, approximately 5-feet-7 inches tall, and wearing glasses, a black Adidas baseball hat, and a grey two-toned long-sleeve shirt, entered the bank and demanded money from a bank employee,” said Amy Matthews of the Titusville Police Department.
Police said the suspect fled the scene with stolen cash before law enforcement arrived. There were no injuries.
