WATCH: The all-volunteer organization, AVET Project, Inc., with the help of a generous donation from “Fish Florida,” held a fishing clinic for kids at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center on Independence Day 2023.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The all-volunteer organization, AVET Project, Inc., with the help of the generous donation from Fish Florida, held a fishing clinic for kids at the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, Tuesday, July 4, 2023.

AVET Project is a 501 c3 non-profit that is designed to help and empower military families however they can.

At the fishing clinic, The Friday Night Locker Room’s Orville Susong spoke with Garren Cone, President and Chairman of AVET Project. Cone was excited as he watched the young people fish and told Susong, “With the generous gift from Fish Florida, the AVET Project was able to put some rods and reels in the hands of these kids.”

Michelle Blackwood, Director of Communications for AVET Project, was on hand helping with the fishing. She talked about the importance of the Brevard Veterans Memorial Center, saying, “It is very interesting to learn the history of the wars.”  Blackwood brought her niece to go through the Museum at the VMC.

When asked the best way to help and support AVET Project, Cone said, “If you want to help us, help the troops, you can go to AVET-Project.org.”
