First day of classes didn’t go as planned at Eau Gallie High School on Thursday as thousands of kids returned to school across Brevard County.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – First day of classes didn’t go as planned at Eau Gallie High School on Thursday as thousands of kids returned to school across Brevard County.

A power outage at Eau Gallie High School required crews from Florida Power & Light to be on campus as they attempted to restore power to the school.

Latest estimate indicated power may not be restored until early afternoon, according to school officials.

“With that in mind, we have decided to cancel school for the day. Staff is on campus and will assist any students who need help to return to their home. All after-school activities are also canceled for today. We expect tomorrow to be a normal school day,” said BPS in released statement.

As of now, there is not a known cause for the loss of power.
