Florida Tech Panthers Men’s Soccer Ranked No. 2 in Sunshine State Conference Preseason Poll

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – The Florida Tech men’s soccer team checked in at No.2 on Thursday when the Sunshine State Conference coaches released their annual preseason poll.

The 2022 SSC Tournament Champions concluded the previous season with a 10-1-7 overall record and a 5-0-5 SSC record.

Tech returns 23 men from the 2022 squad that finished the regular season undefeated and advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 10th time in program history. Among the returners are All-South Region selections Sjur Drechsler, Tomas Casas, Fabio Amaral, and Ettore Casadei.

The 2022 SSC regular season champions, Barry, are expected to repeat tallying 99 points with nine first-place votes. Florida Tech collected one first-place vote to take the No. 2 spot with 90 points.

Rollins pulled in the final first-place vote and 77 points to land in third. Lynn and Nova Southeastern round out the top 5, tied with 67 points.

The University of Tampa (63) sits in the middle in fourth place and is followed by Palm Beach Atlantic (48) and Florida Southern (28).

Eckerd (27), Saint Leo (25), and Embry-Riddle (16) hold the final three positions in the ranking.

Coach Robin Chan and the men’s soccer team open the 2023 season on the road on Aug. 31 when they take on Lander in Wingate, North Carolina. Kick-off is set for 4:30 p.m.
