National Hurricane Center Tracks Two Disturbances in the Atlantic near Cabo Verde Islands

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – National Hurricane Center is monitoring a couple of disturbances that are developing in the Atlantic off the Cabo Verde Islands as hurricane season enters the peak of the season.

Experts at the National Hurricane Center say the first disturbance is a tropical wave is forecast to move off the west coast of Africa on Wednesday or early Thursday.

Some slow development of this system will be possible late this week while the system moves gradually west-northwestward or northwestward across the eastern Atlantic.

The system currently has a 30-percent chance of forming into a tropical depression.

The second disturbance National Hurricane Center is closely watching is area of low pressure could develop by the middle to latter portion of this week over the central tropical Atlantic.

Some slow development of this system is also possible while it moves west-northwestward through the end of the week.

The system currently has a 20-percent chance of forming into a tropical depression.
