Four Florida Tech Panthers Volleyball Players Named to CSC Academic All-District Team

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Four Florida Tech women’s volleyball team members earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team as announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.

Chiara Patelli, Courtney Capar, Jeanne Hassoun, and Antia Vallecas Rodriguez were the four Panthers to earn CSC Academic All-District Team honors.

The 2023 Academic All-District Volleyball teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom.

Academic All-District honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early January 2024.

A native of Desenzano del Garda, Brescia, Italy, Patelli, a graduate transfer, has a 3.75 grade point average and is working towards her master’s degree in chemistry.

Named to the 2023 All-Sunshine State Conference (SSC) third team and D2CCA All-Region Team, the middle blocker broke Florida Tech’s single-season hitting percentage record with a .345 hitting percentage.

She finished tied for first In the SSC with 32 solo blocks. Starting in all 30 matches for the Panthers, she played in 112 of 113 sets with 329.9 points from 240 kills, 31 service aces, and 52 total blocks with 79 digs while averaging 2.94 points per set, 2.14 kills per set and 0.75 blocks per set.

Capar, a defensive specialist/libero is a sophomore with the Panthers earning a degree in multiplatform journalism and holds a perfect 4.00 grade point average.

A Jupiter, Fla. native, she led Tech with 336 digs, the 10th most among players in the SSC with 3.11 digs per set while appearing in 108 sets. Offensively, she earned 26.0 points from 20 service aces and six kills.

Hassoun is working towards a degree in business administration – marketing while working hard towards a 3.99-grade point average.

a junior transfer setter from Bordeaux, France, On the court, Hassoun appeared in 105 sets while playing 29 matches. Recorded 475 set assists, averaging 4.52 assists per set, and tallied a total of 29 points from 25 service aces and four kills with 187 digs averaging 1.78 digs per set.

A native of Galicia, Spain, Vallecas Rodriguez is a graduate transfer and is holding an outstanding 4.00 GPA toward her master’s in business administration.

As an outside hitter for the Panthers, she helped the Crimson and Gray this past season by playing in 29 matches which she started in 27 while playing in 102 total sets.

She managed to score 212.5 points off ­190 kills with 12 service aces, 13 block assists, and three solo blocks along with 280 digs. She averaged 2.08 points per set with 1.86 kills per set.
