BREVARD COUNTY •. COCOA, FLORIDA – A 38-year-old Titusville man will spend the next 11 years in prison for leaving the scene of a deadly crash.

Police say Jacquiece Witcher, 38, entered a guilty plea for the 2019 hit and run crash which killed 61-year-old Bruce Calkins of Rockledge.

Witcher was sentenced to serve 11-years in prison followed by 8-years of supervised probation.

On January 23, 2019, Cocoa patrol officers responded to the 1000-block of W. King Street, where they found a man, deceased in the roadway.

The investigation revealed the victim had been run over by a vehicle traveling eastbound on the highway. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid.

The victim was pronounced dead on scene. A short time later, patrol officers received information about a possible suspect vehicle in Titusville, with damage consistent with the crash that occurred on W. King St.

The driver was later identified as Jacqueice Witcher.

It was believed that Witcher was driving under the influence at the time of the crash.

In addition to the prison and probation time, Witcher was also ordered to pay more than $3,000 in court costs and another nearly $3,000 in restitution.
