UPDATE: Two People Killed in Brightline Train Crash at H.W. Jackson Street Crossing in Melbourne

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Police and Fire Rescue units are on the scene of the second Brightline train crash in three days – at the same crossing near H.W. Jackson Street and Brevard County Fire Rescue has confirmed two people were killed in the crash.
In this incident, a Brightline train collided with a pickup truck in an incident that happened early Friday afternoon.
According to authorities, there were no injuries on the train.
The crash happened about 1 p.m., and according to police, the driver attempted to go around the railway gates, which were in the down position, before colliding with the train.
On Wednesday, 62-year-old Charles Julian Phillips from Melbourne was killed when a Brightline train collided with his SUV near WH Jackson Street and U.S. Hwy. 1.
Brightline trains travel through Brevard up to 30 times a day at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour.
