Melbourne Police are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday morning that resulted in one person injured.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Melbourne Police are investigating a shooting that happened Thursday morning that resulted in one person injured.

Police say they responded to 2600 block of Coventry Road about a reported shooting.

“When officers arrived on scene they found the victim lying on the front porch with several gunshot wounds,” said Melbourne Police Commander Heath Sanders.

The victim was transported to the hospital for medical treatment.

The initial investigation revealed the victim and two associates had left the home briefly.

Upon returning home, the victim walked inside and encountered two unknown suspects.

“The suspects immediately shot the victim, and as the suspects were running from the area, they fired several more times,” said Sanders.

Information received indicates this is not a random incident and the victim’s home was most likely intentionally targeted.

The victim and his associates are all adults.

The victim is expected to recover from the injuries.
