Palm Bay Police Officer Chris Richards Retires After Two Decades of Dedicated Service

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay Police Department officials congratulated Officer Chris Richards on his recent retirement.
His service to the country began by serving in the United States Army and Army Reserve. In 1999, he entered the world of law enforcement by joining the Rockledge Police Department VCOP program.
He was a sworn officer for the Rockledge Police Department from October 2001 to March 2007.
He then transferred to the Palm Bay Police Department, and during his tenure, Officer Richards served as a Patrol Officer, Police Explorer Advisor, Field Training Officer, School Resource Officer, Corporal, Command Post Team, Neighborhood Policing Unit, Derelict Vessel Program, and Sex Offender Management Program.
“Officer Richards and his years of wisdom will be missed by all!” said Palm Bay police official, “please join us in congratulating Officer Richards on his retirement.”
The City of Palm Bay Police Department is authorized 172 sworn police officers, in addition to numerous civilian and support personnel.
The police agency is broken into various sections, such as the Uniform Services Division, Support Services Division, and the Criminal Investigations Division.
Each section assigns officers to various tasks, such as patrol, traffic enforcement, training officers, detectives, and similar tasks. There are three police districts within the city. Police officers are assigned to each district.
