BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Everyone knows that Public Safety Telecommunicators are the lifeline to not only our citizens, but to our first responders as well.
Well today, is a brand new day for our Brevard County Sheriff’s Office Telecommunicator team that dispatches both law enforcement and fire rescue, as today we moved into our new Unified Communication Center.
Earlier today, we officially turned out the lights on our old Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center in Titusville and the old Brevard County Fire Rescue Dispatch Bunker in Rockledge and turned on the lights and consoles in our brand new Unified Communications Center housed in our county’s brand new state-of-the-art Emergency Operations Center.

As our team signed off on the consoles for the final time in the old facilities, we fired up the new consoles and systems where Law Enforcement and Fire Rescue Telecommunicators sit side by side in one incredible location, with one incredible mission…serve and protect our great citizens and community.
Now that we are housed under one roof, our telecommunicators will be able to dispatch our first responders and resources with far more efficiency than ever before.

Along with our great partners from Emergency Management who are housed with us, we will be able to have a seamless delivery of services that ensures our community has the vital resources it needs in times of critical incidents, storms, and other threats to our citizens.
I could not be more excited for this day, and all of the amazing things that will take place right here under this roof in the future.
There is a quote that says “Good communication is the bridge between confusion and clarity,” and that is exactly what describes our Telecommunicators.

None of this would have been possible with the great team work of our agency members and our partners at Fire Rescue!! From IT folks, to contractors, to vendors, and everyone in between, this colossal achievement is something we can all be proud of.
As always, I want to thank each and every one of the amazing men and women, our Telecommunicators who are the calm voice in the darkest of times, between our citizens in need, and our first responders.

Brevard County officials recently cut the ribbon on the new $35.6 million Emergency Management Center, which is one of the most activated EOC in the country and the most active in the State of Florida.
The new Emergency Operations Center is a pivotal milestone in our commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents and visitors,” said Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey.
“The Brevard County Emergency Operations Center, that until now was housed in an old bunker styled building on Cedar Street in Rockledge, is the most activated EOC in the entire country and this new facility was long overdue,” said Sheriff Ivey.
The new 54,000 square-foot facility is located on land owned by Brevard Public Schools and is leased to the County under a 99-year lease at an annual cost of $1. Fortified to withstand Category 5 hurricane-strength winds, the new facility contains the latest technology to better serve our community.
The new EOC will serve as the permanent home of the Emergency Management Department and the Unified Communications Center, which includes the Brevard County Sheriff and Fire Rescue 9-1-1 Dispatch.
The new state-of-the-art Unified Communications Center is home base for both the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Brevard County Fire Rescue dispatchers, making operations more efficient. Previously, the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office serviced law enforcement call in Titusville and fire and medical calls were dispatched from the Rockledge facility.
