Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School Evacuated Tuesday Due to Bomb Threat, Police Identify Out-of-State Suspect

School evacuated on Tuesday morning after receiving threat through social media

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach police detectives have identified a suspect who resides out of state as the perp who issued a threat against Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School through social media on Tuesday.
“The Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School was evacuated on Tuesday morning after receiving a threat to the school through social media,” said Cocoa Beach Police Sgt. J. Hughes.
School officials evacuated the students to the football field bleachers around 11:30 a.m. after receiving the threat. A search of the school ensued, and authorities sounded the all clear about 1:30 p.m.
“Authorities from the Cocoa Beach Police Department, Cocoa Beach Fire Department, Brevard County Sheriffs Office, Florida Department of Law Enforcement and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation worked together to secure the safety of the school and students,” said Sgt. Hughes.
“Law enforcement has determined that there are no threats to the school or public.”
