Florida Tech Panthers Ximena Jauregui Earns SSC Offensive Player of the Week

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Ximena Jauregui of the Florida Tech women’s soccer team has been named the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for her outstanding performance in the Panthers’ 4-1 opening night win over Tiffin.
This is Jauregui’s first time winning the award this season and the first of her career. Saturday’s win over Tiffin also marked her first game with the Crimson and Gray.
Jauregui previously received Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week honors multiple times from the Continental Athletic Conference while playing for Bellevue University.
Jauregui opened the scoring with a goal after fielding a cross into the box from Alice Mottershead to give Tech a 1-0 lead.
After Tech scored another goal, Jauregui added her second goal of the night to push the Tech advantage to 3-0
Jauregui finished the match with a brace, tallying two goals, along with four shots on goal and seven shots in total.
She is the first Florida Tech women’s soccer player in six years to record a brace in a season opener. This was also the Panthers’ first win in a home opener in six years.
The Panthers are back in action on Thursday, September 12 when they hit the road to take on Flagler. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in St. Augustine.
