Satellite Beach Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Pedestrian vs. Pickup Truck Hit-and-Run Crash Incident

Satellite Beach police patrol officers arrest John Thomas Vazquez Sr.

BREVARD COUNTY • SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA – Satellite Beach police patrol officers have located and arrested John Thomas Vazquez Sr., 64, in a fatal pedestrian hit-and-run crash incident that happened Friday night.

Vazquez, who is suspected of driving a Ford F150 pickup in the fatal crash, has been charged with Leaving the Scene of a Crash Involving Death and is behind bars at the Brevard County Jail Complex on a no-bond status.

The vehicle was found at 135 Dorset Lane in the unincorporated area north of Satellite Beach.

According to a Satellite Police Department spokesperson, patrol division officers identified and located the Ford F-150 pickup truck believed to have been involved in the collision, which took place at approximately 6:12 p.m. in front of Cadillac Cove on Highway A1A in Satellite Beach.

“The crash resulted in the death of a pedestrian, who was transported to Holmes Regional Medical Center but succumbed to his injuries, said the Satellite Beach police spokesperson.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
