Police Identify 55-Year-Old Melbourne Woman Bicyclist Killed After Being Struck by Car on Hibiscus Boulevard

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – Melbourne police have identified the 55-year-old Melbourne woman who was killed Thursday afternoon when the bicycle she was riding was struck by a car at Hibiscus Boulevard and Broadband Drive, according to a Melbourne police spokesperson.
According to police, at approximately 3:12 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, Melbourne police officers discovered Amy Bosworth had sustained significant injuries when they responded to Hibiscus Boulevard and Broadband Drive regarding the vehicle vs. bicyclist crash.
“Upon arrival, officers discovered the bicyclist had sustained significant injuries as a result of the crash,” said a Melbourne police spokesperson.
“Due to the injuries, the bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene. Initial investigation reveals a red Subaru SUV was traveling west on Hibiscus Blvd approaching Broadband Drive.”
According to police, the Bosworth was riding westbound along Hibiscus Boulevard on the sidewalk.
“The bicyclist then turned south and entered the roadway in front of the Subaru, which caused the vehicle to strike the bicyclist,” said a Melbourne police spokesperson.
“At this time, it does not appear alcohol or drugs were a factor in this crash. The crash is still under investigation.”
