5 Things You Want to See from Your Semi-Trailer Rental Company
By Space Coast Daily // January 19, 2025
If you see a big truck barreling down the highway, that is a semi. These huge vehicles can carry all kinds of things, from food to clothing to toys.
They help keep American running by dropping off products that workers can then put on store shelves for consumer purchase.
However, while trucking companies normally own fleets of these trucks, you can also find semi-trailers for rent pretty easily if you look for them. Maybe you want to rent a semi-trailer for a one-time job. Perhaps you will start renting one periodically if you occasionally need to move products, but you don’t do it according to a set schedule that would make purchasing a semi-trailer practical.
No matter the reason you feel you need to rent a semi-trailer, you will want to see certain things from the company that you decide to use. Let’s talk about what you’ll likely look for right now.
The Right Price
First, you will want to think about the price of the semi-trailer rental. The price of virtually everything matters when you’re running a business. If something seems too expensive, then you need to find a cheaper version. That’s a rule in business and in other areas of your life as well.
If you find that the semi-trailer rental company you’re considering using does not have a pricing structure for their rentals that works for you, then you will probably need to go somewhere else. Usually, you can’t barter with one of these companies. The price they’re charging won’t change just because you ask nicely, so you’ll need to find another provider of semi-trailers that has a price that works for your budget.
Lots of Positive Online Reviews
Next, it makes sense to look at what kind of a presence this company has online. Maybe you already know that it has a solid industry reputation because you know another business owner who has used this rental agency in the past. However, maybe you know very little about this company before you reach out to them.
If you’ve never heard of them before, or you want to learn more about them before you commit to renting a vehicle from them, then you can first look at their Google listing. Every business should have a Google listing in 2025. If you don’t see one, then you can immediately consider that a red flag.
Assuming you find the Google listing, you should look at it and see what other customers said. Maybe you’ll see that this rental agency has a two-star rating out of five.
Something that like should certainly get your attention, and not in a good way. By contrast, though, if you see that this rental agency has four-and-a-half out of five stars and many glowing reviews, then you can probably rent from them with a lot more confidence.
A Professional-Quality Website
You should next check out this rental agency’s website. Much like a Google listing, any modern company should have its own website, with very few exceptions. A tiny roadside vegetable stand may not need a website, but virtually any larger company should have one.
When you arrive at the website, look at how quickly it loads. If it takes a long time to load, that might indicate that it’s not as professional-quality as you would like. That’s assuming, of course, that it’s not loading slowly because of a poor Wi-Fi connection.
Does the site have a clear call to action on the landing page? Does the copy seem compelling and engaging? Do you see a clear pricing structure on the site? What about an “About Us” section that gives you plenty of information about this business entity and its history?
Usually, you should see all of those things. If you get to the site and it seems spammy and has lot of popups, that’s another red flag. Website copy that’s unclear and has lots of typos might also make you reconsider your selection.
Friendly Service
It makes no sense to give a company your business if they don’t treat you well. That’s true with semi-trailer rental agencies and just about any other kind of service provider as well.
When you reach out to the company and talk to someone on the phone, do they sound eager to earn your business? Or do they sound as though they don’t really have any interest in talking to you?
If you go there in person to look at the vehicles, how does the support staff behave? Are they friendly and polite, or rude and surly?
If you feel this company treats you well and values your business, then you should probably use them. If you don’t like the service you’re getting, though, you can always go with someone else. Remember that you have no obligation toward any company with rude or unhelpful employees.
The Vehicles You Need When You Need Them
You need a company with the vehicles you require when you need them. Maybe you feel like the company you’ve found has reasonable prices. You see positive online feedback, and when you visit the website, you like what you see there. Maybe this company has informative videos on the site and other impressive visual elements.
When you visit them in person, though, they may tell you they don’t have the kind of vehicle you’re looking for at that time. Maybe someone else already rented all the trucks large enough to accommodate your company’s needs.
If so, that is not helpful. You must establish a relationship with a company that always has the vehicles you need. If one that you check on doesn’t have them, you should move on to the next option.
Ideally, you probably want at least two or three options when you’re looking at agencies that might rent your company a semi-trailer. Establishing a relationship with one of these entities may help your business for years to come, so make sure you choose correctly.
