BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA BEACH, FLORIDA – Cocoa Beach police detectives have arrested Rasheem Rudolph Jones, who is facing charges including Armed Robbery with a Firearm, Grand Theft, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
According to Cocoa Beach Detective Sergeant Taylor Payne, Jones’ arrest stems from an incident on January 5, when Cocoa Beach Police officers responded to an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven located at 190 East Cocoa Beach Causeway.
Sgt.Payne said, upon arrival, officers learned that two suspects wearing masks had stolen various items, including cash and approximately $5,000 worth of lottery scratch-off tickets.
During the robbery, one suspect brandished a firearm at the store clerk.
“Detectives promptly arrived on the scene to collect evidence and begin their investigation,” said Sgt. Payne.
“Thanks to their diligent efforts, the suspect with the firearm was identified as Rasheem Rudolph Jones. Within three days of the incident, a warrant was issued for Jones’ arrest.”
Further investigation revealed that Jones, a convicted felon with a history of armed robbery and aggravated assault with a firearm, was also linked to another armed robbery that occurred in Cocoa approximately 24 hours after the 7-Eleven incident.
Cocoa Beach police detectives apprehended Jones on Tuesday, and he is now facing numerous charges, including Armed Robbery with a Firearm, Grand Theft, and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
“We would like to thank our Law Enforcement partners at the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and Cocoa Police Department in this joint investigation,” said Sgt. Payne. “Efforts are ongoing to identify and locate the second suspect involved in this case.”
