Cold Weather Shelters Open Across Brevard County as Cold Temperatures Impact Space Coast Tonight

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Based on the current forecast for Thursday night, community partners opened cold weather shelters across Brevard County.
Temperatures are expected to dip below 50-degrees tonight.
Shelters open at 5 p.m.

The National Weather Service in Melbourne, Florida, has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for portions of East Central Florida, including Volusia, Lake, Seminole, and Orange Counties.
The advisory will be in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday morning, January 23, 2025.
Key Details:
- Expected Low Temperatures: Between 35°F and 40°F.
- Wind Chill Values: Anticipated to drop as low as 25°F to 30°F.
- Coldest Areas: Northwest of Interstate 4 (I-4).
Residents should prepare for hazardously cold temperatures, which are much colder than normal for this region.
The combination of cold air and brisk winds will make conditions particularly dangerous for people and pets without adequate shelter.
