REPORT: Big Pharma has hidden negative data and manipulated the public narrative
“Big Pharma brought in billions of dollars in profit, and the federal government amplified bogus ‘studies,’ all while suppressing any opposition that went against their preferred narrative,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said.
BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a statement on Facebook on January 7 in response to the release of the final report from the Twenty-Second Statewide Grand Jury, which had been tasked with investigating vaccine manufacturers and their practices following the COVID-19 pandemic.
This week, the Grand Jury concluded its investigation of practices within the pharmaceutical industry regarding the COVID-19 vaccine.
DeSantis stated that his organization is still reading through the report but has concluded at least that the report suggests that vaccine manufacturers engaged in “deception” and exploited “scientific journal infrastructure” to suppress adverse events related to their products.
According to Governor DeSantis, the report paints a troubling picture of how Big Pharma has operated post-pandemic, accusing the industry of hiding negative data and manipulating the public narrative.
“Big Pharma brought in billions of dollars in profit, and the federal government amplified bogus ‘studies,’ all while suppressing any opposition that went against their preferred narrative,” DeSantis said.
The Grand Jury also highlighted the frustrations of many citizens, pointing to the fact that vaccine manufacturers have enjoyed immunity from lawsuits, even as they continue to reap vast profits from the sales of vaccines.
It also raised concerns about the lack of public access to critical information about adverse side effects, including deaths linked to the products.
“These sponsors have taken in billions of taxpayer dollars for creating and selling their vaccines; they cannot be sued if something goes wrong with them; they have access to critical information about deaths related to a side effect of their products; and the public does not have access to that information,” the Grand Jury stated, according to DeSantis.
DeSantis is particularly concerned with the role federal agencies played in supporting pharmaceutical companies.
“Instead of acting as a safeguard against bad incentives, federal agencies worked hand-in-hand with Big Pharma, even becoming unpaid advertisers on their behalf,” he said.
The Governor’s statement criticizes what he perceives as a lack of proper oversight in the vaccine manufacturing and distribution process, which has left the public with limited recourse for addressing potential harm caused by these products.
The Grand Jury has issued a series of recommendations to address these issues, advocating for increased transparency and regulatory changes. DeSantis emphasized that the status quo cannot continue.
“The American people deserve transparency on how Big Pharma is using their federal tax dollars, and they deserve regulating entities that operate as watchdogs, not cheerleaders,” said DeSantis.
As the investigation and subsequent report continue to stir debate across the nation, DeSantis’ call for reform is gaining significant attention from both supporters and critics alike.
The Governor has promised to continue advocating for greater oversight and accountability in the pharmaceutical industry, stressing the need for action to ensure public health and safety are prioritized.
This latest development comes as Florida remains at the forefront of vaccine-related discussions, with DeSantis positioning himself as a vocal critic of both the pharmaceutical industry and the federal government’s handling of pandemic-related issues.
