BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy student Wyatt Mize has been crowned the 2025 U.S. Spelling Bee Champion following a grueling 37-round competition.

Mize clinched the title by correctly spelling the championship word, “chlorofluorocarbon,” earning applause and recognition for his impressive achievement.

The competition, held this past weekend, brought together top spellers. Mize’s performance stood out, demonstrating remarkable composure and skill under pressure.

Runner-up Ben Douglas also delivered a strong showing, with both finalists earning praise for their dedication and perseverance. The competition highlighted the talent and hard work of all participants, who faced increasingly complex words throughout the event.

Mize’s victory qualifies him for the upcoming Orlando Spelling Bee, where he will represent his school and community on a regional stage.

Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy expressed its pride in Mize’s accomplishment and extended support as he prepares for the next level of competition.
