WATCH: Video captured the moment the plane crashed, showing a large fireball lighting up the sky.
A small aircraft crashed on a street near Roosevelt Mall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Friday evening.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the Learjet 55 went down around 6:30 p.m. after taking off from Northeast Philadelphia Airport. Two individuals were aboard the plane at the time of the crash.
The aircraft was headed to Springfield-Branson National Airport in Missouri.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether anyone on the ground sustained injuries.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene near Cottman and Bustleton Avenues in Northeast Philadelphia, where multiple house and vehicle fires broke out as a result of the crash. Officials urged residents to avoid the area, with road closures affecting sections of Roosevelt Boulevard.

Sean Duffy, U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary, stated that he is closely monitoring the situation and is in contact with the FAA for further details. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro also acknowledged the incident, confirming that he had spoken with Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker and was coordinating with emergency responders to provide state resources.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is leading an investigation into the cause of the crash, with assistance from the FAA.
This tragic event follows another recent aviation incident in which an American Airlines passenger plane collided midair with an Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport, resulting in 67 fatalities.
