Authorities Investigating Brightline Rail-Related Fatality in the 800 Block of Cocoa Boulevard

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA – A man lost his life late Saturday night after being struck by a Brightline train while walking along the tracks in Cocoa, authorities reported.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Cocoa Boulevard (U.S. 1) when a southbound passenger train hit the individual, whose identity has not been disclosed.
According to witnesses, the man, believed to be a local resident, was seen walking on the tracks shortly before the train arrived. Officials have not yet determined the train’s speed at the time of impact.
Trains can reach up to 125 mph and typically travel 110 mph through Brevard County.
After an initial investigation, the train was allowed to continue its route. The victim’s remains were transported to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
This incident marks the third pedestrian fatality involving a Brightline train in Brevard this year, with the first two occurring last month in Melbourne.
