Figure Skaters from Space Coast Iceplex Selected as Sweepers for ISU World Figure Skating Championships

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Emmanuel and Jazmine Parreno, two dedicated figure skaters from Space Coast Iceplex, have been selected as official sweepers for the ISU World Figure Skating Championships, set to take place at TD Garden in Boston from March 25-30.

This prestigious role places them on the world stage, where they will be part of the action at one of the most anticipated events in figure skating.

Sweepers play a vital role in the competition, skating onto the ice after each performance to collect flowers, stuffed animals, and other gifts thrown by fans. With over 200 talented young skaters auditioning, securing 2 of only 40 coveted spots was no small feat.

Emmanuel and Jazmine, both coached by Joshua Uster since the beginning of their figure skating journey, dedicated themselves to the rigorous selection process, making two trips to Boston for rehearsals and auditions. They will return one final time next month to take their place at Worlds—wearing custom-designed costumes by Olympic dress designer Josiane Lamond.

“We’re beyond excited! It’s such an honor to be chosen,” said Emmanuel and Jazmine. “Skating at TD Garden, in front of the world, is a dream come true.”

Olympian and seven-time U.S. national medalist Mirai Nagasu helped judge the tryouts, looking for skaters who demonstrated charisma, confidence, and strong skating ability.

“These are the moments that will stay with them forever,” Nagasu said. “It’s an incredible experience that keeps young skaters passionate about the sport.”

The ISU World Figure Skating Championships will bring the best skaters in the world to Boston from March 25-30, and Emmanuel and Jazmine will be part of the excitement, representing Space Coast Iceplex on an international stage.
