BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Florida Tech’s Donovan Brown delivered an impressive 29-point performance against Lynn University, despite his standout contribution, the Panthers fell to the Fighting Knights 98-70  Wednesday night at Lynn University.

Brown’s offensive prowess was evident throughout the game, showcasing his ability to score from various positions on the court. However, he was the sole Panther to reach double figures in scoring, highlighting the team’s struggle to find additional offensive support.

This game marked the second meeting between Florida Tech and Lynn University in the 2024-25 season.

In their previous encounter on January 8, 2025, Brown also led the Panthers with 24 points, but the team suffered a significant 97-60 loss at home.

Throughout the season, Brown has been a consistent offensive force for Florida Tech. Notably, on December 4, 2024, he achieved a career-high 34 points against Embry-Riddle.

Despite the team’s challenges, Brown’s individual performances have been a bright spot, demonstrating his talent and determination on the court. As the season progresses, the Panthers will look to build on these individual successes and strive for improved team outcomes.

NOTABLE PANTHERS:

– Donovan Brown led the game in scoring with 29 points, achieving back-to-back games with 28+ scored. Brown was efficient in the game, shooting 52% from the floor and 62% from the three-point line.

– Xavier Ford-Belton finished with a team-high eight rebounds and dropped in eight points to go along.

Head Coach Billy Mims delivered a statement after the tough loss to Lynn University.

Head Coach Billy Mims delivered a statement after the tough loss to Lynn University. “…we just didn’t shoot well enough to win…I know we will learn from this.”

“I thought we arrived and were ready to play and had an outstanding first half.” said Head Coach Billy Mims.

“I felt like turnovers hurt us as they scored quickly following the turnovers. We had 13 to their five, and that produced 25 points for them to our 2 points in turnovers. Rebounding and points in the paint were even; we out-rebounded Lynn on the offensive side and shot more free throws than the Knights, but the big issues were turnovers and three-point shooting. They were 10-21 from three in the second, we were 3-15. They had three players make over three three-pointers, and they shot the lights out, which hurt us. Also, to mention a triple-double from their center.

Donovan Brown played extremely well for us, a typical night for him, but outside of him, as a team, we didn’t make shots. Although we shot more free throws, they made more field goals and threes than us, which was detrimental.

We had two key players get in foul trouble early, and then one fouled out in the second half, but through that adversity, I thought we played right there with them in the first half. In the second half, we cut the lead to 10 and were right there in the mix, but after three straight possessions, we were back down 18 just like that. We just didn’t shoot well enough to win.

Lately, we’ve been able to control the tempo, but we couldn’t do the same controlling of the tempo in the second half here. It’s one thing to come back but another to come back and win especially on the road but I know we will learn from this.”

The Panthers return home to host the University of Tampa on Wednesday, February 19, at 7:30 pm in a conference matchup at the Clemente Center.
