WATCH: Who We Play For’s Shawn Sima and Kim Boss create a CPR/AED video to help those that find themselves in a position where immediate medical attention is needed.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – As part of National Youth Heart Screening Day, the nonprofit Who We Play For, in collaboration with the Florida Department of Health in Brevard County, held a heart screening event on Saturday, February 1, for young people ages 10 to 22.
Multiple agencies turned out for this significant event.
During the event, WWPF’s Shawn Sima and Kim Boss created a CPR/AED video to help those who find themselves in a position where immediate medical attention is needed. Sima told me his intent with the video is to send it to as many organizations as possible.
For Sima and Boss, WWPF is personal. Sima’s then 16-year-old daughter, Lexi, went into sudden cardiac arrest and survived because of the quick action of those near her at the time. Boss’ daughter, Lauren, tragically died of sudden cardiac arrest two years ago at the age of 21.
Both Sima and Boss and everyone involved with WWPF are passionate about WWPF’s mission, which is “to eliminate preventable sudden cardiac death in the young through affordable heart screenings.”
