Mila Elementary’s Dawna O’Brien Named Winner of Florida TaxWatch Leadership Award

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard Public Schools is proud to announce that Dawna O’Brien, Principal at Mila Elementary, has been recognized as a Florida TaxWatch Principal Leadership Award winner for 2025.
This prestigious award honors school leaders who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in improving student achievement at schools with large populations of at-risk students.
On March 27, members of the district and media will gather to celebrate Dawna O’Brien’s achievement.
Dawna O’Brien will be officially recognized at a ceremony in Sarasota in May 2025 and will receive:
– A $1,000 cash prize
– A plaque/award for both the principal and Mila Elementary
– Hotel accommodations at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota for the awards ceremony
– Table space for guests at the event
– The opportunity to nominate one student from Mila Elementary for a two-year Academic A+ Challenge Match Scholarship
