BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – The Palm Bay Pirates girls basketball team will look to advance to the Class 4A State Championship for a pivotal State Semi versus Booker on Tuesday in Lakeland.

The Pirates (23-7) are riding a 13-game win streak into Tuesday vs Booker.

For Palm Bay, the journey and ultimate goal is almost complete of becoming state champions if they can win today in the State Semifinal and Thursday in the State Championship.

HOW THEY GOT HERE

The Pirates have been a resilient group all year and it came with a little adversity to begin the season after starting with an overall record 1-2. Since that point, the Pirates have won 22 games out of their last 27.

Of course, it helps when you have one of the best players in the nation that helps lead the team in nearly category, senior Jaida Civil.

Averaging 18-points and 7.5 rebounds a game, Civil is a University of Tennessee commit and one of the most coveted players in the country in girls basketball.

As a McDonald’s All-American, she is listed as the No. 13 best overall prospect for the class of 2025.

Palm Bay will face a Booker squad from Sarasota that has been hot for the last month after outscoring their opponents by a combined score 466-241 since Jan. 29.

Riding a 7-game win streak, the Tornadoes have been cruising in the playoffs with relative ease thanks to the performances by Marayah Stuart, Jsiyah Taylor and Yvette Brown.

The game is set for 5 p.m. on NFHS Network.
