Palm Bay police officials have announced that 67-year-old Louella Mitchel has succumbed to her injuries incurred during a residential structure fire on Saturday, March 3. Her brother, 65-year-old Mitchell Henry, is still in critical condition.

BREVARD COUNTY • PALM BAY, FLORIDA – Palm Bay police officials have announced that 67-year-old Louella Mitchel has succumbed to her injuries incurred during a residential structure fire on Saturday, March 3.

Her brother, 65-year-old Mitchell Henry, is still in critical condition.

Palm Bay police officers responded to the structure fire at 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, with reports of severe injuries on the 500 block of Balue Lane.

“Officers encountered a severely burned male and female, along with two other individuals,” said Palm Bay Police Department spokesperson Lt. Virginia Kilmer.

“The male and female were airlifted to Orlando, and the other two individuals were transported to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.”

Investigators have been working diligently to determine this incident’s circumstances and motive. After several interviews and a review of the evidence, this incident is being investigated as a homicide, according to Lt. Kilmer.

“We want to assure the community that this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the community,” said Lt. Kilmer.
