NEW YORK – Authorities in New York City are investigating a helicopter crash that occurred Thursday afternoon in the Hudson River near Jersey City.
The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed the incident, stating that as of 3:40 p.m., the helicopter had gone down in the water. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to the scene.
“Due to a helicopter crash in the Hudson River, in the vicinity of the West Side Highway and Spring Street, expect emergency vehicles and traffic delays in the surrounding areas,” the NYPD announced in a public advisory.
In addition to NYPD, Hoboken’s Fire Department Marine 1 unit also responded and is actively involved in the emergency efforts.
