BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office announced Wednesday the arrest of two individuals in connection with a case of aggravated animal cruelty involving a severely malnourished puppy.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey personally escorted the suspects, Keishawna Mass and Alexza Ramos, to the Brevard County Jail, where they were booked on multiple charges. Both face one count of felony aggravated animal cruelty and one count of unlawful confinement without food or water.

The case began on March 27, when a local animal rescue organization responded to a home and discovered a puppy suffering from extreme malnourishment and flea infestation. Following an investigation and a veterinary report from the K-9 Junny Animal Medical Center, BCSO detectives obtained arrest warrants for both suspects.

Keishawna Mass is being held on a $5,000 bond, while Alexza Ramos has a bond set at $3,500.

Sheriff Ivey emphasized the department’s commitment to protecting animals from abuse, stating that those who harm defenseless animals will be held accountable.
