Helicopter Crash in Rockledge Baseball Field Sends Two to Trauma Centers, FAA Launches Investigation

Emergency crews responded to a helicopter crash in Rockledge on Sunday morning that left multiple people injured. According to the Rockledge Police Department, a man and a woman were airlifted to Health First’s Holmes Regional Hospital for treatment after the crash. The victims were pulled from the crash by witnesses at the scene.

BREVARD COUNTY • ROCKLEDGE, FLORIDA — Emergency crews responded to a helicopter crash in Rockledge on Sunday morning that left multiple people injured.

Brevard County Fire Rescue crews were dispatched to the scene near the McKnight Sports Center at approximately 10:21 a.m.

According to the Rockledge Police Department, a man and a woman were airlifted to Health First’s Holmes Regional Hospital for treatment after the crash. The victims were pulled from the crash by witnesses at the scene.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has confirmed that it is investigating the crash.

In a statement, the agency reported that a Hiller H-23D helicopter that took off from Melbourne Orlando International Airport and crashed in the baseball field in Rockledge around 10:30 a.m.

The FAA initially stated that three people were aboard at the time of the crash, though Rockledge Police later clarified that only two occupants were confirmed.

Details regarding the cause of the crash remain under investigation. Authorities have not released further information about the helicopter or the identities of those involved.
