BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – With local high school baseball, tennis, track & field, and beach volleyball seasons all coming to a close in the next few weeks, we’ve seen many great performances throughout the spring.
TRACK
This past weekend, April 4–5, the Pepsi Florida Relays at James G. Pressly Stadium at the University of Florida featured many outstanding performances from Brevard County athletes.
In the boys’ 100 meters, Melbourne Central Catholic’s Justin Woulard ran a 10.51, placing ninth, while Viera’s Jayden McPherson ran a 10.63, good for seventeenth place.
In the girls’ 100 meters, Cocoa’s Trinity Parham ran an 11.92, placing eighth.
In the boys’ 800 meters, Holy Trinity was well represented with two runners: Zackery Gunderson and Luke Thomas, who both placed in the top 25 with sub-2:00 times.
Holy Trinity again showed strength in the 1600 meters. Junior Evan Spreitzer finished third with an impressive 4:15 mile, while senior Skyler Jensen also stood out, posting a 4:24 time, placing seventeenth.
In the girls’ 1600 meters, West Shore freshman Selah Vignier ran a 5:06, finishing thirteenth.
In the boys’ 110-meter hurdles, Holy Trinity excelled again, with Camryn McRoy placing third and Jaeden McMillan tenth.
Cocoa’s 4×100 and 4×200 relay team — consisting of I’Yana Barnes, Trinity Parham, Jayla Edgecombe, and Diamond Bryant — placed fifth in both events.
Titusville’s Ralphel Smith placed in the top six in both the long jump and high jump.
Rockledge’s Josiah Allen placed second in the javelin throw, while Satellite’s Bailey Madsen placed sixth in the girls’ final.
TENNIS
The story of the tennis season has been the undefeated Holy Trinity Tigers, sitting at 10–0 — the only team across the county with a perfect record. Not far behind are the Satellite Scorpions, who boast an impressive 15–1 record.
Holy Trinity will finish the season at home versus West Shore on Thursday, April 10. Satellite is preparing for the Class 2A District 6 tournament on Wednesday, April 16.
BEACH VOLLEYBALL
Merritt Island, Edgewood, and Satellite all have just one loss on the season. Following a 16–6 campaign in 2024, the Scorpions have been strong again this season at 13–1, with their lone loss coming to the Vero Beach Indians.
Merritt Island would be undefeated if not for a loss to Satellite. At 9–1 through 10 games, they look to finish the season strong. At 7–1, Edgewood’s girls have also had a solid season, with their only loss coming to the 8–2 Merritt Island Christian girls.
Also worth mentioning: the Brevard HEAT program has played four matches and won all four.
