BREVARD COUNTY • VIERA, FLORIDA – The Viera Hawks’ season ended Saturday evening as they lost 3-2 in Game 3 of the best-of-three series against Bloomingdale at Space Coast Stadium in Viera.

The Hawks finished the season with a 23-13 record and were the last Brevard prep baseball team left in the FHSAA playoffs.

Viera entered the regional finals after defeating Dwyer and Martin County in previous rounds by series finale victories.

The Hawks defeated the Bulls 3-1 in Game 1, needing just one more win to advance to the state semifinals. However, the Bulls would split their home field advantage, winning Game 2, 3-2, in the eighth inning.

The battle between these two squads was expected as the top two seeds in their region.

With the series split at 1-1, they travelled from Valrico to Viera for the series-deciding rubber match.

In their previous series, Viera and Bloomingdale came up big in Game 3 matchups. This one stayed close the entire way and went into the seventh tied 2-2, but the Bulls found a way to win, pushing one across in the top of the inning and stopping Viera’s rally to win the Regional final.

Viera had a successful season and won the district championship, winning 23 games, improving from the Hawks’ 17 victories last season.
