Five Eastern Florida State College Baseball Players Named to All-Conference Teams

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — The Eastern Florida State College baseball team had five players named to the All-Citrus Conference teams on Friday.
Sophomore starting pitcher Owen Simmons was named to the first team while teammates Jeff Davis, Jason Mack, Bo Tabola and Michael Benedict all made the second team.
Simmons has made 15 starts this season for the Titans and is 5-6 with a 4.32 ERA and has 76 strikeouts in 89 2/3 innings of work. The sophomore was the team’s No. 1 starter all season for the Titans.
Davis hit .328 this season with six doubles and three home runs with 31 runs scored. The sophomore outfielder had 19 stolen bases for the Titans.
Mack led the Titans with a .374 batting average with 34 RBI and 34 runs scored playing third base for the Titans.
Mack was also named to the all-defensive team as the best defensive third baseman in the Citrus Conference.
Tabola hit .323 in 49 games for the Titans as the catcher led the team with 12 doubles and had two triples and three home runs. He scored 52 runs and had 21 stolen bases.
Benedict finished his sophomore season 4-0 with a 3.19 ERA in 17 appearances and made six starts for Eastern Florida State College. Benedict had 43 strikeouts in 48 innings and walked just 17 this season.
The Titans made the postseason for the first time in eight seasons, falling to Pensacola State College in the FCSAA Division I Play-in game on Tuesday at St. Johns River State College.
