Just another day protecting the community in paradise

BREVARD COUNTY • COCOA, FLORIDA — In the neighborhood of University Lane in Cocoa, things took a wild turn when Cocoa Police Officer Anderson responded to an unusual call for help.
A concerned father had dialed in, reporting an uninvited visitor lounging on his front porch: a young alligator.
While it may have been just a little guy by Florida standards, the scaly squatter was more than enough to keep the family’s small children from stepping outside.
Recognizing the need for expert assistance, Officer Anderson quickly contacted the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

A wildlife officer arrived shortly after and wasted no time in handling the situation. With swift professionalism, the gator’s jaws were secured using the go-to method for gator encounters, duct tape.
“The officer handles it Florida style,” locals say.
Before heading back to his patrol, Officer Anderson took a moment to pose for a photo with the wildlife officer and his reptilian co-star. Just another day protecting the community in paradise, and one more wild tale for Officer Anderson to share.
