Eastern Florida State College Runners Shine at Track Shack’s Celebration of Running 5K

BREVARD COUNTY • FLORIDA — Eastern Florida State College runners traveled to Orlando for the Track Shack Celebration of Running 5K presented by AdventHealth, with participants from across Central Florida to mark the start of the racing season.
Among the participants, three Eastern Florida State College athletes, Joshua Marrero, Pedro Sanchez, and Jason Roldan, distinguished themselves with commendable performances.
Leading the Eastern Florida contingent was Joshua Marrero, who crossed the finish line in 17 minutes and 35 seconds.
His impressive effort earned him 19th place overall in a competitive field and a strong 3rd place in his age division. Marrero’s consistency and determination demonstrated the depth of talent emerging from Eastern Florida State College’s running program.
Pedro Sanchez delivered a solid race, finishing in 20 minutes and 24 seconds. His time positioned him 80th overall and 18th in his division, reflecting both his perseverance and competitive drive.
Sanchez’s performance highlighted his ongoing development as a collegiate runner and his commitment to representing his team with pride.
Completing the trio was Jason Roldan, who posted a time of 25 minutes and 42 seconds. Roldan secured 254th place overall, but importantly, his result earned him 5th place in his division, showcasing his ability to rise to the challenge and achieve recognition among his peers.

The Celebration of Running 5K is a long-standing Orlando tradition, kicking off the running season with an event that blends competition and camaraderie.
Hosted by Track Shack and supported by AdventHealth, the race celebrates the pursuit of wellness while spotlighting local and collegiate talent. This year’s event once again brought together athletes, families, and community members in a showcase of endurance and unity.
