Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing Invests in People and Communities to Drive Industry Innovation

By  //  September 1, 2025

In 1939, two brothers arrived in Phoenix with a vision that would outlast wars, economic downturns, and the searing desert heat. Gust and Adam Goettl were not thinking about corporate legacies or industry disruption. They were thinking about survival and comfort in a part of the country where summer temperatures soared past 110 degrees and the relief of cool air could transform daily life.

Their vision and their legacy still stand.

What began as a small operation in a city on the cusp of growth has become Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing, a trailblazing force in the residential HVAC and plumbing services sector with more than 86 years of continuous service. In a country where most businesses do not make it past their first decade, Goettl’s staying power is remarkable.

For Victor Kuman, Director of Sales and Operations, Goettl is a story of grit, innovation, and a deep commitment to doing things the right way.

“We stay ahead by leveraging the expertise of our industry-leading team, serving on national boards and committees, and contributing to the conversation that shapes our industry,” Toland shared in a recent interview about the company. “We research, test, and adopt emerging technologies like smart home alert systems so we can provide cutting-edge solutions to our clients and remain adaptable to their evolving needs.”

Doing Things The Right Way, Not The Easy Way™

At Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing, excellence is not an option; it’s the culture.

The company has served hundreds of thousands of customers over the years, keeping homes cool, comfortable, and safe during punishing summer heat waves — and warm through even the most rogue freezing nights.

Whether in Phoenix, Tucson, Austin, San Antonio, Las Vegas, or Reno, the promise is the same: to do things the right way, not the easy way.

That commitment was strengthened under the leadership of Ken Goodrich, Goettl’s current Board Chair and former CEO. With over three decades of experience transforming HVAC, plumbing, and contracting businesses, Goodrich built a career on assembling top-performing teams and driving rapid business growth. He has successfully launched and sold numerous companies, but his connection to Goettl is personal.

As a boy, Goodrich helped his father, an air conditioning technician, by holding a flashlight while he worked on units in the field.

“Goettl was the brand of the first air conditioner I shone the flashlight on for my dad when I was 10 years old,” Goodrich recalled. “Goettl air conditioners were designed to operate in the high ambient temperatures of the Sonoran and Mohave Deserts. So, when I was growing up and learning the business, my dad installed Goettls.”

That memory planted a seed in his heart and sparked a lifelong passion for the industry. After the passing of his father, he purchased the family business, Racee Air Conditioning, and set out to build an enterprise rather than just a small shop. Life eventually came full circle, and he bought Goettl.

“We are truly honored to carry on the well-known legacy of the Goettl brand,” Goodrich said. “The Goettl brothers invented the industry and created an innovative and well-respected brand. Today, the ‘Goettl workhorse’ is well known and continues to be cited in awe by industry peers.”

While Goodrich now serves as Chairman of the Board, the company’s day-to-day leadership is guided by Jake Gress, Goettl’s Chief Executive Officer. Gress carries forward Goodrich’s vision with a focus on operational excellence, team culture, and customer experience.

“We establish a culture of achievement, customer service, accountability, and teamwork,” Goodrich said. “We create that culture, and then we accelerate the performance of the business. If I had to break it down to one thing, it’s leadership.”

That culture is now being executed and expanded under Gress. The Goettl Academy — an in-house training program designed to prepare not only technicians and installers but also future managers — reflects the company’s belief that finding and developing the right people is as important as investing in the right technology. “We train our technicians and installers, along with management teams,” Goodrich said. “Leadership skills and management skills are part of our curriculum.”

Under Gress’s leadership, that commitment to professional growth extends to every corner of the workforce. Training and mentorship remain at the heart of Goettl’s technician development pipeline, with the understanding that investing in people is investing in the company’s future.

“Advancing their skills directly impacts the quality of service our customers receive, creating more confident, capable, and customer-focused professionals,” said Director of Communications Mollie Toland. “Through our Goettl Academy, we draw on over 86 years of HVAC and plumbing knowledge to deliver hands-on, results-driven training. Apprenticeships help us cultivate the next generation of HVAC technicians and professional plumbers, giving men and women the tools to secure rewarding careers and the confidence to provide legendary service.”

A people-first approach is at the heart of Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing.

It’s a continuation of a tradition that began in 1939, one that blends expertise with mentorship and turns individual skill into collective achievement. The result is a workforce that feels supported, customers who notice the difference, and a business model that proves teamwork really can make the dream work.

Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing Las Vegas Reviews

In Las Vegas, where summer heat can be punishing and reliable service is a necessity, customers of Goettl Air Conditioning and Plumbing have taken to public review platforms to share their experiences.

Keith Mosley described his annual plumbing service visit as “a pleasure,” noting that technician Brandon was professional, thorough, and communicated clearly throughout the appointment. “I wish every one of your employees were as professional and customer-focused as Brandon is. I don’t have enough praise for him,” Mosley wrote.

For Da’Shanti, the experience was defined by quick response and attention to detail. After calling for service, technician Daniel arrived the same day, carrying what she described as “a high-quality flashlight,” a gift she found both useful and thoughtful. He provided detailed photographs of the inside of her rooftop AC unit and explained his diagnosis thoroughly. “I am very confident in his diagnosis,” she said.

Ramon Silerio’s review highlighted honesty as a defining trait. He credited Kalif SG and the Goettl team for being “knowledgeable, friendly, and most of all honest.” Silerio said he appreciated the work on his furnace blower motor and expressed hope that the new part would match the performance of the one installed nearly two decades ago.

Anthony Diaz emphasized follow-through, noting that technician Adolfo Chavez Aguilar addressed any issues promptly and completed the work to his “full satisfaction.” He added that he would recommend both Goettl and Aguilar for future service needs.

Goettl Strengthens Communities in Various Ways

Life at Goettl is all about giving back.

Through its Goettl Gives initiative, the company focuses on what it calls its four pillars of support: veterans, children, pets, and access to clean water. Each represents an area where leadership believes it can make a lasting difference.

For veterans, the company partners with organizations that provide job training, mental health resources, and transitional support for those re-entering civilian life. For children, Goettl works with schools, after-school programs, and charities to improve health, education, and well-being.

In both its daily operations and its community work, the company’s approach is consistent: anticipate challenges, meet them directly, and leave conditions better than they were found.

Whether that means repairing an air conditioning unit before a heat wave hits or funding a program that improves life for a neighbor, the aim is the same – doing things the right way.

“We stand behind every promise with real action, are upfront with our pricing, provide clear options, and stay committed to our customers’ comfort,” Toland shared. “Our culture starts with caring for our team because when we take care of our associates, they take even better care of our customers. It’s a commitment that builds trust, delivers results, and keeps our standards high.”
