MIKE ERDMAN: Jean Duperval was a tremendous inspiration to everyone he met and faithfully served our company for more than 35 years.
BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Jean Duperval, 62, a longtime employee of Erdman Automotive, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, from injuries sustained in a car accident on I-95.
Duperval was one of the top Nissan salespeople in the country, ranking in the top 20 nationwide in volume sales year after year.
“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved sales professional, Jean Duperval, said Mike Erdman.
“Jean passed away on Tuesday, September 23, following a car accident last Sunday. He was a tremendous inspiration to everyone he met and faithfully served our company for more than 35 years.
“An immigrant from Haiti with limited English proficiency and limited education, Jean rose to become one of the top Nissan salespeople in the country, consistently ranking in the top 20 nationwide in volume sales year after year. More than a salesperson, Jean was our friend,” said Erdman.
Erdman asked those who knew Jean to email their recollections to General Manager Mike Farrell at mikefarrell@mikeerdmanmotors.com.
“We want to honor him by sharing them with his family,” said Erdman.
“Truly, I say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise.” – Luke 23:43”

Jean’s passing was posted on social media this week, and the memories are pouring in. These three seem to capture the real Jean Duperval:
■ Roxy Dotson posted, “Such a wonderful, kind human! My husband and I send our condolences to his family. We have known Jean for 20 years; my brother was friends with him for even longer. I can honestly say I have not once seen Jean in a foul mood, inside or outside of work. He was also wonderful to our children when it was their time to buy cars. Everyone I knew always got a “Go see Jean” from us. And he never disappointed. Jean, you will be greatly missed.”
■ Del Johnson, a loyal customer and owner of the Village Bier Garten Restaurant in Cocoa, posted, “Damn Jean, you were definitely one of a kind and THE BEST GUY ALL AROUND! Thank you for serving Brevard County for the last 35-plus years. You’ll be missed, my friend. Prayers to your family and definitely your kids. HE LOVED HIS KIDS! Rest in Paradise, My salesman.”
■ Coworker, John Santerfeit, had this to say about Jean, “I worked with Jean with Erdman for about 16 years, he was a machine, never took a day off, always bell to bell, total inspiration, he will be missed!!”
