Brevard County Man Arrested After Taking Car With Child Inside at Cocoa Gas Station

Brevard County deputies arrested a man Tuesday after he reportedly stole a vehicle with a 1-year-old child inside from a gas station.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – Brevard County deputies arrested a man Tuesday after he reportedly stole a vehicle with a 1-year-old child inside from a gas station.

Investigators said William Mullis took a woman’s car without permission while she was inside the store. Shortly after driving off, Mullis realized a young child was in the backseat.

According to deputies, Mullis returned the vehicle to the same location where he had taken it and was captured on surveillance video leaving the car and walking away.

Authorities later found Mullis on Canaveral Groves Boulevard in Cocoa, where he was taken into custody without incident.

The child was unharmed during the incident.

Mullis was booked into the Brevard County Jail and faces charges of grand theft of a motor vehicle and kidnapping.
