FBI, Sheriff’s Office Investigate Hoax Bomb Threat Emails Sent to Florida School Districts

Brevard Public Schools confirmed Monday evening that the district was among more than 40 school systems across Florida to receive an anonymous bomb threat via group email.

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA — Brevard Public Schools confirmed late Monday evening that the district was among more than 40 school systems across Florida to receive an anonymous bomb threat via group email.

According to district officials, the threats are not considered credible and appear to be part of a coordinated hoax intended to solicit money.

“The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI are actively investigating the origin of these messages,” said Janet Murnaghan, Chief Strategic Communications Officer for Brevard Public Schools.

“At this time, there is no indication of any danger to our campuses, and students are safe to attend school tomorrow as scheduled.”

District officials said they are maintaining close coordination with law enforcement and will share updates with families if new information becomes available.

While the emails have caused concern among parents and staff across the state, authorities have emphasized that no specific or credible threat has been identified at any Brevard County campus.

This incident follows a pattern of similar hoax communications that have targeted schools nationwide in recent months, prompting investigations by local and federal agencies.
