SATELLITE BEACH, FLORIDA — After nearly four decades in law enforcement, Satellite Beach Police Chief Jeff Pearson has announced his retirement, effective October 31, marking the end of a distinguished career dedicated to public safety and community service.

Pearson has served the Satellite Beach Police Department for 38 years, including the last 14 as Chief of Police. Throughout his tenure, he has been widely recognized for strengthening community policing, modernizing departmental operations, and mentoring the next generation of officers.

“Chief Pearson has made lasting contributions to the department and the community,” a City of Satellite Beach official said in a statement. “His leadership has left a strong foundation that will benefit our city for years to come.”

According to city officials, Pearson will remain on leave until his official retirement date to allow for a smooth leadership transition. Plans for naming an interim or permanent successor have not been announced yet.

Under Pearson’s leadership, the Satellite Beach Police Department expanded its community outreach programs, strengthened partnerships with neighboring agencies, and introduced new technology to improve both officer safety and crime prevention.

He has been praised for his steady guidance during hurricanes, high-profile cases, and other critical incidents over the years.

Residents and colleagues alike describe Pearson as a dedicated public servant who always placed the needs of the community first.

The City of Satellite Beach expressed its appreciation in a statement: “The City extends its sincere gratitude for Chief Pearson’s many years of service and congratulates him on his retirement.”

Pearson’s retirement caps off a career that not only shaped the Satellite Beach Police Department but also left a lasting mark on the Brevard County law enforcement community.
