  A hands-on training initiative designed for young adults (ages 18 and older) with special needs who are eager to develop workplace skills in horticulture and agriculture will host a 10-week program, beginning January 9, 2026. 

BREVARD COUNTY, FLORIDA – A  hands-on training initiative designed for young adults (ages 18 and older) with special needs who are eager to develop workplace skills in horticulture and agriculture will host a 10-week program, beginning January 9, 2026. 

The program offers participants a blend of classroom instruction, hands-on horticulture experience, and field trips that connect lessons to real-world agricultural practices.

Participants who complete the course may also have the opportunity to apprentice at a local nursery, gaining valuable job experience and mentorship.

Program Highlights:

Interactive Training: Weekly classes featuring both classroom learning and hands-on activities.

Field Trips: Explore local horticulture operations and see agricultural careers in action.

Apprenticeship Opportunities: Graduates may be matched with a local nursery for continued skill development.

The program will take place in person at the UF/IFAS Brevard County Extension, 3695 Lake Drive in Cocoa.
